The coffee culture is certainly a popular one in Cyprus and whilst the residents of the various villages enjoy a cup of traditional Cyprus coffee over a lively debate and game of tavli, younger people enjoy meeting friends and work colleagues at their local Caffè Nero.
Caffè Nero is a chain of European style coffee houses. Its first coffee shop opened in South Kensington, London, in 1990. Caffè Nero takes its name from the Italian phrase for ‘black coffee’ and promises its clients the best quality Italian coffees.
You can certainly get much more than a black coffee if you prefer because Caffè Nero offers a range of fine coffees made from truly excellent coffee beans. There are espresso based drinks, cappuccino, latte and macchiato as well as Frappé – iced latte - which is everyone’s favourite on warmer days! There are speciality coffees to enjoy too and these include caramel and white chocolate mocha.
Caffè Nero certainly takes good service to a new level as each customer has their own appointed barista who takes their order, makes their chosen coffee and then serves it at their chosen table.
Caffè Nero has consistently won numerous awards for the high standards of its coffees and prides itself on working closely with coffee growers and participating in the ‘fair trade’ scheme.
Whilst Caffé Nero is best known for its coffees, there are hot chocolates on the menu including the exceptionally tasty Hot Chocolate Milano which is extra thick and creamy and Fruit Boosters are iced fruit drinks which are definitely good on summer days.
Enjoying time with friends of a good coffee is fun, but it is over lunchtime or after work, something to eat becomes essential too! There are various panini, pasta salads and soups on the menu and all complement the coffee perfectly.
There are Caffè Nero coffee shops in Nicosia, Larnaca, Oroklini, Limassol Marina and Pafos... so why not promise yourself a great cup of coffee?
