Fish and Seafood
This popular family restaurant just couldn’t be nearer to the sea!
Zakos Beach Restaurant is situated in the popular Mackenzie Beach area of Larnaca with a wonderful view overlooking the golden sand with the sea beyond... what better place to enjoy seafood and fresh fish?
The restaurant has plenty of seating both inside and out and outside is lovely as there is shade and most evenings a light onshore breeze. Zakos is the perfect choice for a lazy lunch or dinner and is ideal for couples, families and larger groups.
There is a great choice of seafood dishes and the variety of fish is impressive – with most of it caught locally. The seafood includes lovely salads for lighter lunches, as well as lobster, mussels, crayfish and clams – what a choice.
The fish is cooked simply so that the taste can be appreciated and all that is needed is some fresh lemon juice. For those who are unfamiliar with some of the local fish and finding a choice difficult to make, the perfect solution is to order a fish Mezé (minimum two persons).
Mezé comes from the Greek word Mezedhes meaning small servings and the Mezé comprises a wide variety of dishes including dips, salad and all the different fish! A Mezé should never be hurried, but enjoyed at a leisurely pace over a glass or two of wine or a nice chilled beer.
Another fun dining experience on the menu is Sushi and there are a variety of beautifully prepared dishes for you to try.
There is a good selection of meat options too including succulent steaks, kebabs and a variety of grills as well as local specialities including Greek style salads, moussaka and koupepia (dolmades).
With children in mind, there are several dishes and for all those who enjoy a lovely dessert such as Tiramisu or Créme Brulée, there is plenty of temptation.
The drink menu at Zakos Beach Restaurant is good with a selection of Cypriot wines, international drinks, beers and soft drinks and of course after you have lingered over a leisurely lunch, what better than to walk out onto the golden sands for a little relaxation?.
