'Mixing art and science'

When he was a young boy, Theodoros Hadjiantonas (Doros) played amongst his great grandfather's vines, helped with the wine-making and dreamed how one day his wine (bearing the family name) would be enjoyed by people throughout Cyprus.

It is a dream come true for Doros because since he applied for his licence to manufacture wine in 2004, he has never looked back. What started as a fun hobby eleven years ago has now developed into an award-winning winery making top quality Cyprus wines using both indigenous and imported grape varieties, as Theodoros explains.

'The winery nestles in the rolling countryside of Parekklisia just east of Limassol and it is fun for individuals, families and groups to take a tour of the winery with the option to enjoy some wine tasting in the cellar organised by my wife, Natacha'.

At present the winery makes three excellent classic reds (Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot) and a young fruity Maratheftiko which is made from an indigenous variety and best enjoyed within a few years. There is also the superb, fruity Rosé which has won two gold medals this year and the classic Chardonnay that is barrel-aged for three months. The winery's latest white is Xinisteri. Clear, light and made from another indigenous grape variety and a wine that can be enjoyed young. To everyone's delight, this wine has won two gold medals in local wine competitions in as many months!

With celebrations in mind, the Hadjiantonas sparkling Muscat and Rosé (made from Shiraz and another medal winner!) are the perfect choice every time!

During the summer months, the winery's gardens can accommodate over 1000 people making it the perfect venue for weddings, corporate functions and school educational outings.

If you are celebrating a special occasion and want to impress your loved one book the Halcyon Suite which is situated on the ground floor of the winery overlooking the lawn.

The winery is gaining an excellent reputation for its corporate events and in the past year has hosted both local and international companies.
